Bed & Breakfast of charme in the heart of Monferrato, Piedmont, a few kilometers from Casale, stands the historic village of Rosignano, a free Commune since 1250. Near the village, on the ancient tuff hill which overlooks the surrounding vine-covered valleys and hills, stands "I Castagnoni"; once a religious convent that gave shelter to abandoned girls, now the summer residence of the family who has been living in it for generations.

During the week-ends, in the grape harvest and truffle season, the family cooks, upon request, traditional Piedmontese specialities accompanied by wines produced in the area. In fact, until ten years ago, wine was produced in big concrete barrels in the tuff and brick cellar below the house, and to this day the owners make a small quantity of "Monferrato" and "Dolcetto DOC" wine.

There are several alternatives: either week-ends to visit wine cellars and ancient tuff houses in the villages of Rosignano and Cella Monte, with tours to the surrounding resorts lost among gentle and relaxing hills, or one-week stays to visit the Baroque palaces and the synagogue of Casale.

For the lovers of taste and tradition, there are wine and food itineraries in autumn, at the time of the grape and truffle harvest, as well as the local festivals to re-discover an area that has remained so far excluded from fashion tourism and has fortunately escaped speculation and exploitation. Most attractive too would be to walk along the paths of the area or to ride a mountain bike or a horse on the lovely hills of Rosignano.
