Description
We welcome you in an elegant and sophisticated home of XVIII century, overlooking Roero and Langhe hills, at the feet of the Govone castle.
We renovated our home with great care and love, respecting the original structure, reusing and exploiting the original materials to recreate the atmosphere and romanticism of this ancient building. The thick, ancient walls offer you a pleasant cool in summer and warmth in winter evenings, large terraces a magnificent view over the hills, the greenhouse and large garden the relax in the countryside.
The rooms have women names, that bring back to the ancient royal family of Savoy and its princesses: Mafalda, Matilda, Margherita and Carlotta, Iolanda and Adelaide. We have devoted special care in the restoration and furnishings; romanticism and charm to remind the sophisticated, elegant atmosphere of the French countryside. The old bathtubs, resting on lion feet, the antique floors recovered, the frescoes restored to the old glamour, old furniture found in the flea markets of Piedmont and France, and the household linen from the grandmother’s chest.
Matilde: on the first floor and overlooking the garden and hills. It's a spacious suite furnished with antiques Piedmont furniture: the old wardrobe coming from a nearby convent, the marble fireplace, the lamps and decorations, in shades from white to gray, matching the old floor and the black and white wallpaper. In the large bathroom the bathtub with lion's feet is starring… Mafalda: it is located on the first floor, with the entrance from the balcony. It’s a romantic and charming suite overlooking the garden and the amphitheater of hills. It consists of a living room, with a fresco in shades of pink, a large bedroom with access to terrace and an old bathtub. The stylish bathroom, with its own fresco, completes this little gem of our bed and breakfast !
Margherita & Carlotta: on the second floor, this large suite consists of a beautiful double bedroom with a wall painted with drawings of the eighteenth century in the shades of yellow and green. A second bedroom, with a beautiful ceiling frescoed, has two single beds.
The living room, enriched by its fresco, opens onto a large terrace for the exclusive use of the suite, overlooking the beautiful hills of the Roero. The bathroom, with the old floor of red and black tiles and a frescoed ceiling, has a large shower. The suite is also ideal for a couple, in this case, without the use of the room Carlotta.
Under the roof, the romantic Iolanda and Adelaide rooms the first with large cicrular shower and the second with an elegant bath tube.
Outside The garden is the place to find refuge for those seeking a bit of tranquility, in the green of the nature, reading a book or sunbathing. The possibility of organizing a picnic close to the vineyard is a good option for a nice relaxing day.
The "square", between the garden and the vineyard is designed as a romantic corner just for you or for hosting small private receptions with family and friends. If needed we will be happy to help you in planning the event
Govone and its Castle Located halfway between Alba and Asti, 301 meters above sea level, Govone covers the last eastern edge of the Roero, borders with Monferrato and, just across the Tanaro river, with the first hills of Langhe. The old historical center is gathered around the historic castle, medieval fortress rebuilt in the eighteenth century to become a magnificent Savoy residence, surrounded by a vast park and a scenic Italian garden. In 1997 Govone was included in the UNESCO world heritage. The natural landscape is everywhere very green, almost entirely characterized by gently rolling hills covered with vineyards. A good network of paths and secondary roads allows pleasant excursions in the most peaceful valleys of the village and access to valuable viewpoints on Tanaro and the hills of the Langhe, Monferrato and Roero.
